L'Autore, rilevata la presenza di numerose zone d'ombra e incertezze, esistente in tema di pedofilia, dedica una prima parte a porre una base conoscitiva attenta del fenomeno nei suoi vari aspetti, compresa l'attenzione ad esso data nella società civile e nella Chiesa.

Affronta quindi la relativa problematica etica, secondo la collaudata distinzione tra moralità oggettiva e responsabilità soggettiva.

Scende quindi sul terreno operativo, fornendo anche indicazioni pratiche. Infine dedica una Nota al delicato problema dell'attribuita diffusione della pedofilia nel clero cattolico in alcuni Paesi.
