Nel mese di luglio 2019 il Comitato nazionale per la Bioetica italiano ha approvato e pubblicato un Parere intitolato "Riflessioni bioetiche sul suicidio medicalmente assistito". Con il presente contributo, si presenta brevemente la storia istituzionale di questo documento e si cercano risposte ad alcuni quesiti bioetici toccati dal Parere. Ne emerge una lettura critica che va al di là delle singole questioni (e specialmente dei profili giuridici e legali implicati), e rimanda all'esigenza di una meditazione nuova sul senso della bioetica ed il suo rapporto con l'antropologia filosofica e le questioni identitarie.
