Alla luce dell'insegnamento del Magistero Cattolico, l'Autore spiega il perchè la Chiesa abbia scelto e sempre strenuamente difeso la vita umana: essa è dono di Dio, del quale l'uomo non può costituirsi abusivamente come arbitro, giudice o padrone. Di fronte alle tante minacce ed ai molteplici attentati contro la vita, soprattutto nascente, l'uomo deve sempre ricordare che, creato da Dio "a sua immagine e somiglianza", ha in sè una vocazione fondamentale e nativa all'amore, che chiede di essere realizzata. Quando l'uomo perde, infatti, di vista questa verità e pensa di poter vivere come se fosse pura autonomia, accade che - una volta conosciuti i propri dinamismi vitali - egli voglia padroneggiarli a piacimento, all'inizio della vita (ed al suo termine), sia mediante la fecondazione artificiale che attraverso la contraccezione.
