Numerose situazioni cliniche richiedono il prelievo di liquido seminale a fini diagnostici. Abitualmente ciò viene ottenuto mediante masturbazione, ma tale metodica di raccolta solleva obiezioni di carattere psicologico ed etico. L'articolo illustra i risultati di uno studio condotto su 30 pazienti, 17 dei quali si sono sottoposti a prelievo dello sperma con un apposito vibratore clinico (Viricare). Il risultato è stato positivo nel 64.7% dei casi (11/17). Gli Autori concludono che - pur con una casistica volutamente limitata, da verificare ulteriormente su un numero maggiore di pazienti - il Viricare possa costituire una valida alternativa alla masturbazione, non solo nell'ambito di ospedali cattolici, ma in tutte le strutture sanitarie ove si pratica prelievo di liquido seminale, al fine di fornire un'alternativa a persone sensibili alle problematiche psicologiche ed etiche che tale test diagnostico può suscitare.
