----------
The Authors present their thoughts on the importance of the Humanities in pharmacy education. They underline how the Humanities contribute not only to the physician's personal education and his or her clinical training but also to the pharmacist's personal education. The Humanities have the ability to influence pharmacy student as a whole person: intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. In particular, great literature, art, history, can help professionals to develop and sustain professionalism. As students think about and empathize with the dilemmas that characters in these stories face, they come to better understand their patients, as well as themselves.
