L'articolo procede all'analisi del recente "Documento di consenso" sottoscritto a Sanremo nel marzo del 2010 dai rappresentanti degli Ordini professionali medici dell'Unione Europea. Oltre al commento dei punti principali di questo consenso deontologico continentale, viene posto in evidenza che il processo di unificazione etico-professionale è a suo modo sintomo dell'esistenza di convergenze di fondo: al di là della diversa organizzazione dei sistemi sanitari e dell'enorme sviluppo delle biotecnologie, un simile processo è valido argomento a favore dell'unitarietà concettuale della professione medica, sulla scia della tradizionale identità ippocratica.

This article analyzes the recent "Consensus Document" approved in Sanremo in march 2010 by the representatives of physicians' professional orders of the European Union. The article comments the highlights of this European ethical approval and emphasizes that the process of ethical unification is sign of the existence of points of convergence: beyond the different health organization and the impressive development of biotechnology, this process is a valid theme for conceptual unity of medical profession, in the wake of traditional Hippocratic identity
