The integration of body and psyche in therapy

Abstract

‘Psychotherapy with the body’ is an expression that sounds paradoxical. Other terms - such as ‘body-based’ or ‘body-mediated’ - may perhaps mitigate the paradox, but not eliminate it. Treating the body and treating with the psyche are, in our culture, two at first sight irreconcilable modalities.
