Various symptoms and facts lead one to think that the utopia of scientific and technological progress, conceived in a linear, autonomous and unhindered manner - scientific and technological progressivism - is going through its first critical moment, of revision, and the time has come for a confrontation, 'the realm of facts' with the 'realm of values', between the scientific organisation of means with the meaning and direction of ends.
