Authors

Newborn infants, in particular those who are preterm and above all those who suffer from neonatological pathological conditions, risk functionally caused as well as organically caused consequences. In the introduction the author describes the experience at the Department of Neonatology of the Catholic University of Rome, where a permanent psychoprophylaxis and neonatological psychosomatic course has been set up for the staff. The author briefly but clearly presents and discusses the etiopathology and the clinical aspects of psychosomatic disturbances in the newborn as well as the prophylaxis and therapy.
