Culture of "now", of "hurry", with the fact that companies, including healthcare organizations, turned from complicated to complex, makes it difficult to manage the unintended consequences and to give meaning to a new situation and economic organization. The Fifth Discipline of the MIT Sloan School of Management is a road traveled for years in the business world but it is unexplored in the Italian Healthcare System. In this article we explain the theoretical basis of the functioning of the "Fifth Discipline" with particular attention to: "The seven inability to learn", reserving the opportunity to deepen the topic of: "The Five Laws" and the "Six systemic archetypes" in other papers.
