Authors

----------
This article analyses informed consent from a Christian/Catholic perspective, placing emphasis on fundamental ethical principles and related interpretations and practical applications, with regard to documents of the Catholic Church, especially the New Charter for Health Care Workers. Significant attention is devoted to the patient/physician dialogue, the duty to inform and the right/duty of information, within a multi-religious society. The author specifically investigates the issue of vaccination, in relation to the ethical problems raised by the use of cell lines derived from aborted human foetuses. It includes an ethical analysis with a main focus on the case of human papilloma virus vaccine and its consequences, particularly for minors/adolescents and women.
