Ethical consultation in AULSS 8 Berica has been active (and evolving) since 2006 with the establishment of the Clinical Practice Ethics Committee in Vicenza. It operates along several lines, particularly focusing on the formulation of formal and informal opinions, and the establishment in 2019 - being the first in Italy- of an Ethical Consultation Space dedicated to citizens. This space helps individuals reflecting and subsequently formulating Advance Living Will (in Italian: DAT, Disposizioni Anticipate di Trattamento), and has been well-received and appreciated by users. The committee members also engage in the training of the company’s staff (both hospital and community-based) as well as the general population and participate in an ongoing self-training program. The strengths and unique characteristics of the committee are particularly significant; one notable example is the annual participation in an outdoor training course held in a mountain refuge, aimed at educating members and strengthening the bonds within the working group.
