Medical interventions concerning the embryo, such as those involving genetic engineering and, more generally, sperirrientation, artificial insemination, as well as prenatal diagnosis, give rise to a legal problem, the treatment of which requires a preliminary, albeit general, identification of the position recognised by the legal system for the unborn child.
