Authors

The author discusses some problematic aspects concerning the procedures of the determination of death with the aim of taking organs for transplantation. The law regarding the trade of organs is briefly described and then the various aspects of donation and expropriation are discussed in detail. The scarce propensity of the relatives to give consent to donate may derive from their doubt that the subject may not really be dead. The guarantee of the accuracy of the determination of death is based on the determination itself, the death certificate and the information. The forensic physician of the medical college called on to determine the death represents the guarantee of the correct procedure.
